Kempower Satellite with Power Unit: Scalable Distributed DC Fast Charging for Commercial EV Sites

The Kempower Satellite with Power Unit is a distributed DC fast charging system for sites that need several charging points from one central power source. The modular, rack-style Kempower Power Unit converts grid AC to DC. Slim Satellites at the parking bays deliver the charge, placed up to 80 metres from the cabinet. This saves parking space and keeps cable runs short, which suits retail sites, hotels, car parks, depots and public charging hubs.

Capacity grows with demand. Each Power Unit cabinet takes 1–4 power modules of 50 kW, with power added in 25 kW steps. A system reaches up to 1,200 kW and up to 12 charging points. Dynamic power sharing sends unused capacity to the vehicles that need it, so the installed power is used efficiently. The system supports both 400 V and 800 V vehicles, offers up to two CCS2 outlets per Satellite and can be fitted with DC energy meters and a payment terminal for public billing.
